It’s always a joy when clients come back, and this project was no exception! A beautiful family of four, whom we worked with two years ago, moved into their dream home—a stunning four-story Edwardian house overlooking the common. Large rooms, high ceilings, and an abundance of potential made this home a designer’s dream. But, as the family expressed, it was missing that spark of personality and a touch of panache.
Our mission? To celebrate the Edwardian and Victorian eras, infusing the home with warmth and character while keeping the design balanced, modern, and distinctly them.
Honouring History, Infusing Fun
As always, my approach was to mix styles and have fun with the design, all while staying true to the home’s Edwardian roots. We added dado rails, intricate mouldings, and elegant ceiling roses to bring in the charm of the era. The walls, once modern and unassuming, were transformed with rich, warm colours that envelop the space in cosiness.
Lighting played a huge role in the transformation. From statement chandeliers to picture lights and stair lighting, we made sure every corner of the home was both functional and beautiful. The warmth of the lighting echoes the love and vibrancy of the family themselves, making the house truly feel like a home.
A Journey to Christmas Cheer
We pushed hard to wrap up the project just before Christmas, leaving a few final details for January. The festive spirit of the season filled the air, and the family was thrilled to celebrate in their newly designed space. Professional photos are booked for February/March 2025 (I’m so excited for this!), but in the meantime, I wanted to share some “during” pictures so you can feel like you’re part of this journey with us.
The Work That Made It Magic
We rolled up our sleeves for this one—here’s a glimpse at what went into the transformation:
Ripped out carpets and demoed old walls for a fresh start.
Removed window shutters to flood the home with natural light.
Built bespoke bookshelves with LED lighting, cabinets, and storage units.
Added wall panels, mouldings, and dado rails to celebrate the home’s heritage.
Introduced all-new furniture, completely revamped the lighting, and installed wallpaper in select rooms.
Created a playful yet elegant design for the kids’ rooms, complete with bubble railings and whimsical touches.
Brought in bespoke furniture from Europe, adding a layer of uniqueness that ties everything together.
Before and After: A Picture-Perfect Transformation
This house is big, and words can only say so much. The before and after pictures will tell a story all on their own. Trust me, you won’t want to miss the big reveal when those professional photos drop in early 2025.
For now, keep an eye out for updates and sneak peeks. This transformation has been one for the books, and I can’t wait to share the final look with all of you.
Until then—thank you for joining me on this design adventure.
